From the Principal

Warren families,

After that cold snap it feels like spring is just around the corner!

As we head into spring, I ask that you please have a chat with your students about their online behavior on TEAMS. We have an uptick of reports of unkind messages being sent to students from their peers which result in, at the least hurt feelings, and at the worst could be determined to be bullying/harassment and require more formal consequences. When behavior like this is reported to your child’s teacher or me, most often it is then deleted by the student who sent the message. Please let your student know we can retrieve messages for a period of time, so if they don’t want an adult to see it, it is best not to write or send it. This is a good opportunity to review the concept that “what is put into the cyberspace cannot be retrieved”. Such an abstract concept for children to understand, but so important that they do.

I would also ask that you consider having your student leave his/her laptop in a common area when they go to bed. We are also seeing an uptick of use (calls, video chats and messaging) during the evening and night hours (between 10:00pm – 2:00 am), which I think we would all agree would be better used for sleep!

Parent Teacher conferences are just around the corner (March 17 and 24). Teachers are looking forward to connecting with you to discuss your child/children’s areas of strength and areas of focus. Conferences will be held in the same format as the fall. Our conference attendance in the fall was 99 percent—our ambitious goal is 100 percent! Sign-ups are listed below.

It is so good to feel like we are beginning to move toward more “normal” times! We are so glad to have K-5 students back to in-person learning for 4 days a week. Since, we are in Phase 2 our school newsletter will transition from a bi-weekly update to a monthly update. Dojo messages and emails will be sent as needed.

Wishing you all a healthy March,

Mrs. Wilkins and Mr. Burton
