Dear Warren families,

Exciting news- the district is moving to 5 in-person school days. Next Wednesday, April 14, will not be remote. Rather students will be returning to an in -person school week. This Wednesday is our last remote learning day. To give teachers opportunity to prepare for next week I have asked them to cancel their check-in meetings tomorrow.

I know this is another change and will feel like another heavy lift to you all. As I frame this in my own mind, I think about where we were 1 year ago today.  We are shifting back to a more normal world *insert a relieved, tired, outdated happy dance*. We are looking forward to having our students back in-person for all days withing the school week.  Below is the email that was sent to families earlier this afternoon. Do not hesitate to reach out with questions.

The Helena Public Schools would like to thank you for your continued involvement across this unusual school year. As we welcome spring and the fourth quarter, several opportunities exist including modifying our elementary schedule by adding Wednesdays for in-person learning. This shift and several other related updates are included in the below message.

Kindergarten Registration Process

Begins January 4th, 2021, at your Neighborhood School 7:30am ‚Äď 8:30am on Jan. 4th Drive Up drop off process (stay in vehicle, staff will pick up forms)

The Helena Public Schools will begin accepting kindergarten Registration Forms* for the 2021/2022 school year on January 4th, 2021, beginning with a drive up (stay in your car) drop off of forms to staff from 7:30am Р8:30am. After 8:30am, contact your neighborhood school’s main office via telephone to schedule a time to drop off registration forms. In the days following, your school principal may schedule a remote spring conference with your family to complete the registration process.
Please have the completed Registration Forms* and proof of current address (utility bill, lease agreement, etc.) ready to be dropped off/received by the building administrator beginning January 4th,2021.
*Registration Forms can be picked up from your neighborhood school prior to December 18th, 2021, or on the district website https://helenaschools.org/registration-and-enrollment/

Important Details: To register for kindergarten, students need to be 5 years old before or on September 10th, 2021.

Complete Registration materials Include the components below.

1. Proof of age through a certified birth certificate (5 or older on September 10th, 2021)

2. Proof of current residence, e.g. rental agreement, tax statement and/or utility bill.

3. Complete Helena School District registration form ‚Äď available from school offices or website.

4. Provide proof of immunization records**

** Montana State law requires all students to be immunized against Diphtheria, Pertussis (whooping cough), Tetanus, Polio, Measles, and Mumps & Rubella (MMR). Exceptions are allowed for verified religious and medical reasons only. Proof of immunizations must be provided on or before the first day of school.

Signs will be posted at your neighborhood school on January 4th with directions to form drop off area.
